Teams, people we select

When we try to build teams around us we tend to look for people we like.

This works well in the initial phase. Later we may find that those we selected are not fit for use in that team with that goal.

The reason our intuition misleads us is that we tend to convolute the roles of

  • politics,
  • goal-setting,
  • team-building and
  • team-leading.

There is nothing wrong with all these functions in one person, but they are consecutive functions, each with a distinct result.
